Pain Perdu (French toast)
Ingredients
- 4 thick slices of slightly stale Brioche or white bread or baguette
- 2 large eggs
- 85g of milk
- Pinch of salt
- 85g white sugar
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon powder
- 3 /5 tbsp of unsalted butter
- *Greek yogurt or Maple sirop or salted caramel sauce to serve Optional
- *Fresh fruits Optional.
Instructions
- Cut each slice of bread into 12/16 cubes.
- Whisk the eggs, milk and salt in a bowl.
- Combine sugar and cinnamon in a bowl.
- Melt 1 1/2 tbsp of butter in a fry pan over medium high heat.
Don't let the butter burn. - Quickly toss half the bread cubes in the egg mixture and use your hands to shake off excess egg mixture. Place the bread cubes in the frying pan and fry until browned on all sides or if you prefer crispy.
Remove the fried bread cubes onto a paper towel to remove excess oil. Add the fried bread into the sugar mixture. Toss to coat. - Repeat with remaining bread cubes.
Perfect served with marple sirop, salted caramel sauce or Greek yogurt with fresh fruits.
Enjoy!

Extra note:
Stale bread or broiche or Baguettes is perfect for this recipe. And it soaks in the egg mixture better.
